Materials in this collection include approximately 60,000 negatives of GWU images taken by Marvin Ickow. The material dates from 1975-88. The images include alumni, sports, reunions, seminars, development office activities, construction projects on campus, and faculty members. Prominent people include Edward Teller, Thelma Hunt, Chief Justice Warren Burger, and GW President Lloyd Elliott.

Biographical Note
As a George Washington University (GW) junior in 1968, Marvin Ickow worked as a staff photographer for the GW Hatchet and as a senior served as both the production manager of the GW Hatchet and the photography editor of the Cherry Tree. After graduation, Ickow began working as an assistant director of the Alumni Relations Office. In 1976, he left the University to pursue a career as a freelance photographer. From this year until 1988 when he began working as a general manager of Unicorn Graphics, a large commercial typesetting firm, Ickow worked as a freelance photographer for many GWU functions including sporting events (basketball, soccer, etc.) commencements, dinners, receptions, and dedications.
Ickow was born in Chicago. He earned his B.A. in Sociology from GWU in 1969. In 1988 he donated his GWU negative collection to the University Archives. This note was written in 2005.
