Historical or Biographical Note

The Washington Society for the Blind was in existence from 1938-80 and offered employment to the blind and raised money for rehabilitation through vending machines and other fund-raising activities. Disbanded in 1980, the Society established an endowment fund bearing its name at The George Washington University for the Ophthalmology Department for use in research.
