Scope and Contents
This collection contains newspapers and newsletters published by IBT locals, joint councils and other Teamsters organizations from 1904-2009. The bulk of the materials are IBT local and joint council periodicals from a number of different cities, including New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Denver, Milwaukee, Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. The papers cover general union and labor news, IBT-related news and events, as well as current political news, events and commentary. As most of the materials date from 1957-1990, they document the entire Jimmy Hoffa era, as well as the tenures of Frank Fitzsimmons, Roy Williams, Jackie Presser, and William McCarthy. Also included in the collection are the DRIVE Reporter, the publication of the Teamsters' Democratic, Republican and the Independent Voter Education organization.
