Overview Although the Corcoran had no formal Special Events Office until 1979, the Gallery had a tradition of special events designed to cater to the CGA membership and to draw the Washington area public into the gallery. Prior 1979, special events which encompassed the Corcoran Lecture Group and the WAG were coordinated, at times, out of the Director's office, and at other times, were the responsibility of the Education Curator or the Public Relations office. Abstract Johannes Adam Simon Oertel (1823-1909) an artist and Episcopal clergyman spend the last eighteen years of his life near Washington, D.C. painting and serving as assistant rector of the Church of the Incarnation, Washington, D.C. He had a studio in the Corcoran Building in Washington. He usually painted religious subjects. Collection contains a diary, newspaper articles, poems, letters, and images. The material dates from 1867-1909.
Abstract This collection consists of nine issues of the Woodwind publication. The later issues are dated in the early 1970s. The earlier issues do not have dates. The issues have poetry, essays photography, advertisements and reviews of music and films. The artists featured were often local to Washington, DC
