Abstract The collection include manuscript drafts and proofs, research notes, clippings, photographs, prints, correspondence, awards, lecture notes, personal papers, professional papers, and reports. They range in date from circa 1860 to 2017, but the bulk of the material dates from 1950 to 2011. Abstract

Materials in this collection include approximately 60,000 negatives of GWU images taken by Marvin Ickow. The material dates from 1975-88. The images include alumni, sports, reunions, seminars, development office activities, construction projects on campus, and faculty members. Prominent people include Edward Teller, Thelma Hunt, Chief Justice Warren Burger, and GW President Lloyd Elliott.

The Peter Smeallie and Peter Smith Collection consists of 167 photographs and graphics that were reproduced in the book New Construction for Older Buildings: A Design Sourcebook for Archivists and Preservationists (New York: John Wiley & Sons, 1990), which they co-authored.
