Academic Publications Office records
The mission of the Academic Publications office is to edit university publications such as the University Bulletin. Materials for this collection include dissertation abstracts, commencement programs (including the Law and Medical School), class schedules, University Bulletins, degrees conferred, President Carroll inauguration, Law School centennial and special convocations, stylistic guidelines, and master course and program data forms. The material ranges in date from 1943 to 2004.
Elmer Louis Kayser papers
George Washington University Virtual Commencement Collection
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the classes at George Washington University transferred to all virtual in the spring 2020 semester. The Commencement held in May 2020 was also fully virtual. The materials in this collection all relate to the spring ceremonies and include social media.
Lowell Joseph Ragatz papers
Collection of handwritten notes from Washington newspapers that had articles dealing with the University and its history. This included commencements, advertisements, medical, law and other GW schools. The collection covers the years 1821 to 1872.
Marvin Ickow papers
Materials in this collection include approximately 60,000 negatives of GWU images taken by Marvin Ickow. The material dates from 1975-88. The images include alumni, sports, reunions, seminars, development office activities, construction projects on campus, and faculty members. Prominent people include Edward Teller, Thelma Hunt, Chief Justice Warren Burger, and GW President Lloyd Elliott.
Mount Vernon Seminary and College Commencement Collection
National University records
Collection of programs, yearbooks, correspondence, student records and grades, agreements, minutes, Senate and House bills, Congressional Records, and published works. The materials cover the dates 1872-1988.
Office of University Relations records
Collection includes videotapes, memos, biographical files, news releases, publicity files, news clippings, correspondence, photographs, slides, audio tapes, faculty publications, LP albums, media guides, and newsletters.
Office of University Special Events records
Collection includes shovels for building groundbreakings, medals, invitations, commencement guides, programs, 175th anniversary celebration of the University items, t-shirts, hats, posters.
The George Washington University Bulletin
Collection contains the bulletins of The George Washington University, from all schools and colleges. These bulletins include special addresses, reports, and pictorial bulletins, as well as academic courses, fees, and degree requirements.
University historical materials collection
This collection include photos, diplomas, invitations, newspapers, early land holdings, 19th century newspaper accounts of the early college, Civil War records, and memorabilia.
University Marshal records
Collection include commencement programs, budgets, scripts, and videotapes.
