Abstract Johannes Adam Simon Oertel (1823-1909) an artist and Episcopal clergyman spend the last eighteen years of his life near Washington, D.C. painting and serving as assistant rector of the Church of the Incarnation, Washington, D.C. He had a studio in the Corcoran Building in Washington. He usually painted religious subjects. Collection contains a diary, newspaper articles, poems, letters, and images.
