Overview Horizons: Theater from a Woman’s Perspective was an award-winning theater that operated in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area from 1977-2007. This collection contains material relating to the operations of Horizons, as well as its previous iteration, the Pro Femina Theater. The material dates from circa 1972–2015, with the bulk of materials dating from 1980–1989.

The Dance arm of the Department began as part of the Physical Education Department in 1926, and was later part of the Department of Human Kinetics and Leisure Studies from 1974 until 1987, when it joined with the Department of Speech and Drama to form the Theatre and Dance Department. Abstract Materials in this collection include correspondence, manuscripts, article, and brochures. They range in date from 1945-98, and were transferred to the University Archives by the Vice President for Information and Administration Services.
Abstract Collection contains correspondence, scripts, resumes, programs, administrative records, financial documents, photographs, art work, and audio cassettes from the Washington Theater Club, which was formed in 1957 to fill a perceived cultural void; to present good drama, away from Broadway; to speak out in plays of consequence; to present new ideas, new forms, and quality theater, which could be enjoyed and performed without racial barriers.. The materials date from 1952-83.
