Modern dance

Dana Tai Soon Burgess & Co., formerly the Moving Forward Contemporary Asian American Dance Company records consists of material dating from 1988 to 2012, which covers the emergence and rise of Dana Tai Soon Burgess and the Moving Forward Contemporary Asian American Dance Company in the Washington, DC performing arts community.

Collection includes flyers, posters, postcards, press releases, programs, two photographs, and a bit of correspondence. The material relates to the productions undertaken by members of the dance community in Washington D.C. from 1976-1990.

Collection contains programs, brochures, clippings, scripts, sketches, notes, correspondence, press releases, scores, research materials, biographies, and photographs dating from 1903-2003 and was collected by Elizabeth Burtner in the course of her career as professor of dance at The George Washington University.

Collection contains newsletters dated from 1978-86. The newsletter of the Metropolitan Dance Association provided information for dance professionals and enthusiasts.
