Writings

Ann Brewer Knox was a Washington D.C. area writer and teacher of poetry and short fiction. Her writings were widely published in journals and books. This collection contains drafts of poetry and short stories, book manuscripts, publications, personal journals, correspondence, publication, teaching and other professional materials, clippings, and floppy disks documenting her personal and professional writing career. The bulk of the material dates from 1977 to 2011.

The material in this collection consists of manuscript drafts, galleys, and research notes related to the work of author and teacher Marita Golden. The collection also includes archived versions of the Marita Golden website. The material dates from 1969-2023.

This collection contains more than 300 letters sent between William Halsey and Mary Price from 1916-1918. Halsey was an engineering professor at GW and Price was a personal secretary in Swarthmore, PA. Throughout the time the letters were written, Halsey and Price dated, got engaged, and married. The letters provide insight into love and courtship in the early 20th century and discuss events like the 1916 presidential election and World War I.
